Year-Round Family Liaison Volunteer

KEY FUNCTION: The Family Liaison Volunteer conducts outreach to new and returning camper families and shares their experiences with our staff, volunteers, and donors. The Family Liaison may help with camper recruiting, family communication, family activities, volunteer training, and/or fundraising events.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age of 23 years required
Parent / guardian of current Camp Hobé campers or recent alumni (2021 or later preferred), or former Camp Hobé camper (patient or sibling)
Minimum of 2 years of prior camp experience (preferably at Camp Hobé)
Ability to follow-through on assigned tasks
Punctual and reliable
Self-motivated, good character, adaptability, enthusiasm, and sense of humor, patience and self-control
Able to show empathy for and understanding of grieving families and families whose children face serious illness
Willing to share personal experiences with childhood cancer with families, volunteers, and donors
Open and honest in relationships; willing to learn from experience
Flexible and able to respond positively to changes in duties or schedule
Pass a criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Deputy Director with planning, preparing, and running family events throughout the year, including the camp season Parent Breakfasts.
Actively engage in camper recruiting including outreach to new and returning camper families, through various methods (in-person, phone, email, social media).
Support Deputy Director and other camp staff with answering questions from new and returning families about the camp sessions, and providing other families with information on how to prepare for camp, reduce camper / family anxiety, and prevent homesickness.
Speak about their experience as a camper family in the local media and at various organization functions, such as volunteer trainings, family town halls, and fundraising events.
Encourage an atmosphere of respect, acceptance, & enthusiasm.
Follow all organization policies, rules, and regulations.
Complete training and review education materials as needed, including: camper packets, organization and mission, chain of command, brochure, tip sheets (commonly-asked questions during registration, or about camp).
Other duties as needed or desired.

POSITION TYPE: Family Liaison Volunteer position duties will occur throughout the year. Setting includes at-home office duties, family events, and other events throughout the year. May need some onsite assistance during the summer camp sessions with the Parent Breakfasts, or other camp activities. Flexible schedule, with specific dates to be arranged with staff.
