The kids are coming, the kids are coming … are you ready yet? Here are a few items to add to your counselor bay of tricks.
- Write a short autobiography and post it on your cabin bulletin board before the campers arrive. Attach a picture from school, home or your days as a camper. As campers arrive, have them contribute autobiographies to the bulletin board.
- Use old wrapping paper as a cheap way to decorate the cabin. Tape it up like wall paper or cut the illustrations to create a cabin theme.
- Develop a cabin cheer.
- Find a copy of a book you liked when you were your campers’ age. Read a chapter to your cabin each night at lights out.
- Come up with your own cabin lyrics to a popular song.
- Make a cabin message box. Each day, campers must put in an anonymous note describing something positive that happened that day. Share the notes at lights out.
