MISSION STATEMENT
Camp Hobé is a special summer camp experience designed expressly for children currently undergoing treatment for cancer as well as their siblings. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that enhances self-esteem, fosters independence and friendships, and creates a feeling of belonging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 20 years old preferred
Experience in food preparation for large groups preferred
Desire and ability to work with children
Ability to accept guidance and supervision
Good character, adaptability, enthusiasm, and sense of humor
Self-motivated, adaptable, enthusiastic; has a sense of humor, patience, and self-control
Open and honest in relationships; willing to learn from experience
Food handler permit or ServeSafe certification preferred
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with preparing camp menu as planned or revised
Work with other Kitchen Assistants as a team
Encourage an atmosphere of respect, acceptance, and enthusiasm
Follow all camp policies
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow directions of the Kitchen Supervisor
Assist with unloading and storage of food supplies
Assist with preparation of meals and snacks
Follow safety guidelines for appliance use, dishwashing, and refrigeration
Utilize safe storage measures for foods
Assist with serving meals
Assist with kitchen and dining hall clean-up after meals
Attend pre-camp training
Assist Kitchen Supervisor with camp inventory
Attend daily staff meetings whenever possible or when requested to do so
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Communicate instructions to campers and other staff
Observe and assess camper behavior and enforce appropriate regulations
Possess strength and endurance required to prepare and serve meals
Identify and respond to hazards and assist in emergency situations
