MISSION STATEMENT
Camp Hobé is a special summer camp experience designed expressly
for children currently undergoing treatment for cancer as well
as their siblings. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that enhances
self-esteem, fosters independence and friendships, and creates
a feeling
of belonging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
age of 20 years for School Age camp; minimum age of 21 years
for Teen Camp
Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
Self-motivated
Ability to relate to one's peer group
Ability to accept guidance
and supervision
Ability to assist in teaching program activities
Good character,
adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor
Patience and self-control
Open and honest in relationships; willing
to learn from experience
Current CPR and FIRST AID preferred
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and meet the needs of the campers
Carry out camp programs
as planned or revised
Follow all camp policies
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
(Program Assistants)
Promote respect and acceptance of each individual
Provide opportunities
for each camper to be successful at some experience
Recognize
and respond to opportunities for problem solving
Set a good example
for campers: participation, sportsmanship, sharing, doing chores
Help
enforce all camp regulations and safety rules
Be on time for flag
ceremony, announcements, meals and activities
Attend pre-camp
training, in-camp training, and daily staff meetings
Assist with
camper check-in and check-out as assigned
Remain in camp unless
permission to leave has been given
Be prepared to accept responsibilities
of counselor if needed
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
(Cabin Counselors)
Know where campers are at all times
Guide campers in participating
in all activities
Help campers develop sense of cabin unity, plan
skits and cheers
Be aware of camper responsibilities
At least one staff member must
be with campers at all times
Perform bed check at curfew
Monitor general health and well being
of campers
Contact medical staff for any medical problems
Request advice from
Camp Director or Assistant Director for behavioral problems
These
are not the only responsibilities or duties to be performed.

or other
tasks
may be assigned
as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Be able to understand and follow instructions
given by directors
Be able to communicate instructions to campers
and other staff
Be able to observe & assess camper behavior, & enforce
appropriate regulations
Identify and respond to hazards, and have
the abilities to assist in emergency situations
