Wapiti Mama has been with Camp Hobé for almost 20 years.
She first volunteered with Camp Hobé while in pharmacy school
and continued volunteering ever since. She has done practically
every job there is at Camp Hobé, from field games to cabin
counselor to kitchen staff and co-director. She is currently
the Executive Camp Director and oversees all Camp Hobé programs.
Chris has served on the Board of Directors for the Children’s
Oncology Camp Association International and for the Utah Elks
Camp Wapiti. She caught the volunteer bug as a teenager and has
volunteered with the Red Cross, University Hospital, the 2002 Summer Games,
and at camps for children with asthma and muscular dystrophy.
She is married and has a teenage daughter and two toy poodles. Her
absolute
favorite TV show is “Farscape” and her favorite movie is The Princess
Bride.
Nicole Bailey Volunteer
Nicole joined Camp Hobé in 2002 at the encouragement of her wonderful friend Captain Ron. She enjoys pudding fights, arts and crafts, and causing as much mischief as possible. She is currently enrolled at Westminster College's nursing program and hopes to go into pediatric oncology. She loves her kids and couldn't think of anything else she'd rather do than put a smile on their faces!
Michelle has been with Camp Hobé since 1999. Originally
from Burley, Idaho, she's lived in Salt Lake for more than a decade.
She loves Hobé. She's been Day Camp Director since
2002 and is the volunteer coordinator. She's led activities,
been a cabin counselor, and part of the Cheesy Macaronia
Kids Week kitchen staff. She likes camping, eating s’mores,
and little white doggies that jump on you.
Anita Coyle Kids Week Program Director
Anita loves eating massive amounts of cotton candy while at camp.
She has been the Kids Week Program Director since 2002. She will
go to great lengths to pull a prank on a fellow staff member,
even forgoing food and potty breaks.
Jason Coyle Camp Hobé Game Show Host
Jason is our very own Camp Hobé game show host and has appeared in many crazy camp skits. He is currently working on his teaching certificate and hopes to work with high school students. He has a brand new daughter who is cute as a button!
Nicole Ewing Volunteer
Nicole is a childhood cancer survivor who first attended Camp
Hobé as a camper and has loved it ever since. She has been
a volunteer since 1997. She has been the Teen Week Craft director
for the last several years. In her spare time, she likes to cross-stitch,
cook, and bake.
Colleen Farnsworth Volunteer
Colleen helps behind the scenes to run camp and take care of the million things that need to happen year-round. She is the office manager for a car dealership. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her niece and her rescued greyhound.
Rebekah has been with Camp Hobé since 2003. She is originally
from Helper, Utah, but has lived in Salt Lake for the past 10
years. She loves Hobé. She got involved with Camp Hobé because
she wanted to give back somehow. She had a sibling die from cancer.
For the last two years she has been the Teen Week Program Director
and has loved planning activities and working with the kids and
all volunteers involved. She loves to travel, hike, bike, camp,
read, and listen to music. Her favorite movies are the Lord of
the Rings trilogy and Dune.
Captain Ron has been with Camp Hobé since 1992. Ron got involved
with Hobé after his sister attended as a camper for several
years. He is a Renaissance Man. He is a professional waiter at
Tuscany and L’Avenue, where he is always recruiting both volunteers
and donors. He also designs custom furniture, designs and screen
prints T-shirts, frames artwork, and prepares commissioned artworks
using many different media. He loves listening to Nanci Griffith
and tries really hard never to miss her in concert. He has two
beautiful teenage daughters who have also volunteered with Camp
Hobé.
Like many of our “old timers,” he has done every job
there is at Hobé (REALLY).
Melissa Kennedy Volunteer
Melissa is the sibling of a childhood cancer survivor. She grew up with Camp Hobé, starting as a camper and moving up through our Counselor-in-Training program to become a counselor. She helps plan and run Day Camp as well as helps throughout the year with fundraisers. She has a beautiful young daughter.
Jeanne Kluse Cook
Jeanne has worked with a variety of nonprofits, including scouting programs, children with disabilities, and children’s performing groups. She is a proud grandmother as well as a proud dog owner. She is always on the lookout for new and fun foods to serve our campers.
Paul Larsen Volunteer
Paul is the sibling of a young adult cancer survivor. He started with Camp Hobé as a Counselor-in-Training and just completed his first year as a counselor. He is attending Utah State University and plans to become a physicians assistant. During school, his diet is mainly rice with various condiments. We ALWAYS feed him better than that at camp.
Colonel Steve Lloyd Medical Co-Director
Colonel Steve has volunteered with Camp Hobé since the 1990s, with breaks along the way to serve his country in Operations Desert Spring, Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. He is
a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Hematology/ Oncology Department at Primary
Children’s
Medical Center. He loves working with the Camp Hobé campers
and playing with his Irish setters. He has intense dislike of
camels, which are notably smelly and prone to spitting.
Michelle Pack Volunteer
Michelle helps behind the scenes to run camp and take care of the million things that need to happen year-round. She works as a paralegal.
Jamie “Navy” Seale Medical Co-Director
Jamie started volunteering with Camp Hobé in 1999. She is
a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Primary Children’s Medical
Center.
